International Students

The University of Sarajevo’s winter and summer semester starting dates vary from year to year, but the semester division corresponds to the following schedule:

Academic year
Winter semester: October – January
Summer semester: February – July

Exam period
Winter semester: January – February
Summer semester: June – July

A more detailed academic calendar is updated regularly with specific dates on the university website. Orientation week is typically held the first week of the semester with a special Welcome Day a few days before classes start.

The University of Sarajevo adheres to the following grading scale:

10 excellent A 95-100 Exceptional success without mistakes or very small mistakes
9 very good B 85-94 Above average, with some mistakes
8 good C 75-84 Average, with noticeable mistakes
7 satisfactory D 65-74 Generally good, but with significant parts missing
6 sufficient E 55-64 Meets the minimum requirements
5 fail F <55 Does not meet the minimum requirements
