“Within the scope of the EUPeace programme, I participated online (virtually) in courses offered by Justus Liebig University Giessen and successfully completed them. This experience gave me the opportunity to take part in an international academic environment without physical mobility.
Engaging with academics and students from different countries contributed to the development of my intercultural communication skills and allowed me to gain exposure to diverse academic perspectives. The teaching methods used in the courses enhanced my critical thinking, analytical skills, and active participation in academic discussions.
Furthermore, learning in an online environment strengthened my abilities in time management, self-discipline, and the effective use of digital learning tools. Overall, this experience made a valuable contribution to my academic development and provided a meaningful international higher education experience.”
My favorite memory from the virtual exchange was the chance to meet inspiring and friendly people from different countries. It reminded me so much of my Erasmus days – the excitement of learning about other cultures, sharing experiences, and connecting with open-minded people. Even though it was online, it truly brought back that unique international atmosphere and made me feel part of a diverse community once again.
Three reasons why others should also do a virtual exchange:
- You get to meet people from different countries and make new international friendships.
- It’s a great way to practice and improve your language skills, like English or German.
- You can experience the Erasmus vibe again – from the comfort of your home!

- The courses are interesting and you have a lot of free time to visit the city or do an activities like to go see a hockey game for example
- Plzen is well located, I had the opportunity to visit a lot of countries or city in Czech republic which is really cool and cheap
- In the university you have an organization called ESN UWB Pilsen which proposed a lot of activities or weekend to meet the other Erasmus students, have a buddy and discover the country and culture

- You will easily find your way around, via walking or taking the Metro. Everybody is welcoming and willing to help if needed.
- Beautiful architectural and historical buildings and delicious food.
- Comillas University is super interesting and different, but a great experience. The building itself is beautiful and the students are very nice.

© Ali Haydar ÖksüzOne of the things that impressed me the most about Marburg was that it is a university based city with a wonderful cultural structure. With its historical background and castles, every minute I felt like being in a Harry Potter movie. Also university’s wide range of facilities has a great impact on the development of the students who come here. My favorite part of Marburg University was the library; I can easily say it’s the largest and most beautiful library I’ve ever seen…This university is perfect for a student!

My favourite place was the school where I did my internship, because I felt very welcomed at every moment. Everyone, including the kids, was very nice to me and made the experience very valuable and memorable.
What did you enjoy most about your mobility experience?
What I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to learn about a different system, while also using my time there to get to know the culture and travel around.
What surprised you about your host country or university?
What surprised me the most were the cultural differences between my host country and my home country, and how these shape the character and personal attitudes of the people.
Any advice for future mobility students?
My advice would be to research everything you need to know about your destination in advance, to keep an open mind, and to understand that our differences make us stronger.

Stari Most, the stone beach next to the Neretva River, the Partisan Memorial, and the incredible nature around the city.
What did you enjoy most about your mobility experience?
Learning the local language, feeling the vibrant atmosphere in the city, and meeting other Erasmus students (including those from the other university).
What surprised you about your host country or university?
The few bicycles and many cars; for the first time, I actually enjoyed walking to university.
Any advice for future mobility students?
Get in touch with the French Institute for high-quality language courses, and try to talk to locals to learn about their view on their city.
