Prof. Dr. Mario López Areu

Students and staff from Comillas, Marburg and Mostar universities got together in May 2024 at the latter’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences  for a four-day workshop on conflict resolution.

The goal of the workshop was two-prone: first, to bring students from different EUPeace institutions, degrees and social and cultural backgrounds together; and second, to design a study programme that combined the academic strengths of the three participating institutions on the common topic of conflict prevention and resolution through a crossdisciplinary approach.

During the workshop, students not only got to work and know each other, but also were exposed to different teaching methodologies and content, from mediation simulation games to International Relations and Peace and Conflict theories and case studies from across Europe and beyond.

The workshop also provided a chance for project staff to meet to reflect on the successes and challenges of this initial pilot programme and plan the expansion of joint teaching in the field of conflict resolution going forward.

Attending staff: Mario López Areu (Comillas), Thorsten Bonacker, Stéphane Voell and Miriam Tekath (Marburg) and Davorka Topic and Marijan Tustonja (Mostar).
