24.07.2025 Join the EUPeace Creative Space “Framing, enabling, and teaching the concept of justice in the context of climate change”

You are warmly invited to join the EUPeace Creative Space “Framing, enabling, and teaching the concept of justice in the context of climate change” taking place on 24 September 2025 at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
In this transdisciplinary forum, we will explore how climate action is continually shaped, and sometimes undermined, by contingent events, extending the path to neutrality, diluting effectiveness, and risking inequity. We’ll delve into the multifaceted forms of justice (distributive, procedural, recognition, corrective, and the emerging transitional justice) and reflect on how colonialism, racism, and capitalism intersect with climate inequities. Our goal is to translate these complex concepts into robust EU policy recommendations and university‐level teaching modules.
The session will be based on data‐driven examination of anthropogenic impacts, and will move seamlessly into contributions bringing practical perspectives beyond academia. Special emphasis will be placed on translating “Just Transition” concepts into teaching practices. After convening in person for this intensive dialogue, we will reconvene virtually to draft an opinion paper destined for an international peer‐reviewed journal and to solidify a growing network devoted to just, equitable pathways to climate neutrality.
The Creative Space features expert contributions from:
- Kian Mintz‑Woo (University College Cork)
- Ireri Hernandez Carballo (European Institute on Economics and the Environment – EIEE, CMCC Foundation)
- Jonas Bothe (Next Economy Lab, NELA)
Join us to help shape a just, equitable pathway to climate neutrality, both in policy and in the classroom. We look forward to your ideas, your questions, and your partnership in this timely endeavour – please register now for the Creative Space!
