27.05.2025 More opportunities for Joint Master’s programmes

Discussions around our plans for joint Master’s programmes continue apace! The EUPeace Alliance intends to:
- develop two programme pilots – one in the humanities and the social sciences and one in the STEM subject areas – for the deep integration of curricula based on the broad roll-out of the European Track. The two pilots will be followed by three additional degrees.
- integrate the experience of the European Track, the Research Hubs, and the Living Peace Lab into the development.
On 7 May 2025, the team working on Transforming Curricula (work package 2 of our EU-funded project) hosted a highly productive and fruitful online information event on the planned joint Master’s degree in the field of Security and Conflict Transformation. Project coordinators Dr Stéphane Voell and Prof. Dr. Thorsten Bonacker (Marburg University) outlined the current shape of discussions between Marburg University, Comillas Pontifical University, Çukurova University, and the University of Sarajevo; and they described the ways in which colleagues from other Alliance universities can get involved. If you or your colleagues are interested in potential collaboration, do please contact Dr Voell as soon as possible at: voell@uni-marburg.de.
Plans are also developing for our second programme pilot in the area of Water Resources Management (with the working title of "Water4All"). Another project likewise supported by the EUPeace Fund, this currently involves colleagues at the Universities of Limoges and Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), as well as Marburg University. The 'Transforming Curricula' team supporting the development is also looking to organise expert workshops in the areas of International Economics and Business, as well as Computer Science, Data Science and AI, in the course of June and July. Not only that, but Alliance colleagues are intensively exploring possibilities of collaboration in the profoundly interdisciplinary field of Global Health.
If you’re interested in finding out more about any of the plans listed on our information page, you can contact the WP2 Coordinator, Dr Robert Craig at eupeace.wp2@uni-giessen.de. Do also note – and feel free to advertise – the opportunity to apply for seed funding from the EUPeace Fund via the Fund’s Fourth Call (deadline: 30 June 2025).
