11.09.2023 Rector's Forum: Promoting Collaboration in Higher Education

Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector of the University of Mostar, presented the EUPeace alliance at the 7th Rector's Forum of Southeast European and Western Balkan countries.

The University of Rijeka hosted the 7th Rector's Forum of Southeast European and Western Balkan countries dedicated to the current challenges facing Southeast Europe. It brought together more than 70 representatives from universities in the region, including rectors, vice-rectors, and university delegates. The University of Mostar was represented at the Forum by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić.

The Rector's Forum aims to promote European policies in science and higher education, exchange best practices, and strengthen the voice of academic institutions in Southeastern Europe. European university alliances operating in the region were presented during the event, and participants discussed their role in the development of higher education. Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector of the University of Mostar, presented the EUPeace alliance, in which the University of Mostar participates, with the goal of promoting peace, justice, and an inclusive society.

Representatives of member universities of the Forum adopted a Declaration committing to work together to enhance and strengthen regional and international connectivity, support joint initiatives and projects, raise research and higher education quality standards, and improve academic mobility within the network of institutions. During the two-day forum, Prof. Dr. Sc. Snježana Prijić Samaržija, Rector of the University of Rijeka, was elected as the new president of the Rector's Forum of Southeastern Europe.
