08.07.2025 Strengthening Ties: EUPeace Coordination Team Visits Justus Liebig University Giessen

Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) welcomed representatives from the EUPeace central coordination team on 3 July 2025 for a strategic dialogue focused on advancing the alliance’s implementation at institutional level. The visit offered a platform for in-depth exchange between the coordination team, represented by the Chair of the Governing Board, Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn, the Secretary General Alexandre Wipf and the alliance’s Chief Development Officer Petra Kienle, and key JLU stakeholders involved in governance, strategy, and operational delivery, including its President, Prof. Dr. Katharina Lorenz.
Collaborative Dialogue with Governance and Work Package Leads
The meeting brought together a broad cross-section of the university’s EUPeace participants. Representatives from central governance bodies — including the Education Board, Steering Committee, Senate, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Board, and Quality Assurance Board — were joined by local coordinators of the alliance’s work packages. Together, they discussed how JLU is embedding EUPeace’s overarching aims within its own structures, policies, and practices.
Focusing on Alignment, Communication, and Engagement
Discussions centred on strengthening the link between local implementation and central coordination, raising awareness of EUPeace across the university, and addressing both opportunities and structural challenges. Topics ranged from communication processes to the practical resourcing of alliance-related activities. The visit fostered a productive exchange on shared goals and forward-looking strategies.
A Shared Commitment to Continued Cooperation
The visit celebrated the strong collaboration between the alliance’s core team and its member institutions. JLU emphasised its ongoing dedication to the alliance’s shared vision and future direction. The exchange reflected a common understanding: lasting success is built on regular dialogue, collective insight, and a deep sense of shared purpose across all levels of the partnership.
