This year’s theme, Building Effective University Alliances, was chosen because university alliances play a pivotal role in the future of higher education. They bring numerous benefits but also present challenges, such as the introduction of the European Label, the development of joint European degrees, new mobility regulations, and other innovations in higher education. The University of Mostar has recognized the importance of engaging in this process and has become the first university in Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the European Alliance EUPeace through the Erasmus+ European Universities initiative – the Development of New, Deep Institutional Transnational Cooperation.

Throughout the program, participants introduced their institutions and engaged in panels and roundtable discussions on topics related to international mobility, the development of university alliances, and the implementation of cooperation programs. Special attention was given to presentations on European university alliances, including EUPeace, EMERGE, SEA-EU, and EUTOPIA, as well as discussions on the role of collaboration in enhancing education and scientific research.

Mr. Arturo Varona Bosque, Director of the International Office at Comillas Pontifical University, and Chair of the EUPeace Steering Committee, presented online, showcasing the work as the Lead Beneficiary of Work Package WP7 – Societal Dialogue. He shared his experiences regarding the challenges encountered, as well as the opportunities for cooperation across multiple alliances. He also touched upon his previous work within EUPeace, especially the first year’s experiences, and provided valuable insights into future perspectives.

In addition, the program featured an in-person presentation by colleagues from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Ms. Monika Mundilová and Mr. Ondřej Benda gave an insightful presentation about their university and activities within EUPeace, with a special focus on Work Package WP4 – Facilitating Mobility.
