From 26–27 March, the EUPeace Senate met in Gießen. A key focus was strengthening coordination with other EUPeace bodies to further reinforce the democratic legitimacy of EUPeace decisions.
One concrete step forward: the Senate will invite both the Governing Board and the Steering Committee to join the Senate’s next online meetings. The aim is to improve how the Senate provides advice and contributes to decision-making at the highest level.
The Senate also reviewed its internal structure. It has been refined to give more weight to the different status groups it represents: students, doctoral candidates, early-career researchers, faculty, and administrative staff. Each group will now nominate a representative to the Senate’s Chairing Committee, ensuring broader input where it is most relevant.
All of this sets the stage for finalising the Senate’s Rules of Procedure — an important step in making its role within EUPeace more clearly defined, transparent, and effective.
