Four weeks of intense synchronous and asynchronous collaboration – and the participants of the Work Package 3 Teacher Educator Workshop Reimagine Horizons: Weaving Peace Education, Technology and Global Connections have produced incredible results.
Reimagining Peace Education Through Virtual Exchange and AI
The main aim of the workshop designed and delivered in close collaboration between JLU and long-term partner in the internationalisation of teacher education Dr Julie Lindsay (University of Southern Queensland, Australia) was (1) to make virtual exchange, its challenges and potentials tangible, (2) to provide an experience-based opportunity to reflect on implementing virtual exchange in teaching and learning, and (3) to use AI to support collaboration. Participants from the EUPeace partner universities and associated partners were mixed in international and interdisciplinary groups to come up with a vision statement and a moonshot pitch. Results were presented and discussed in the final showcase on 28 November.
Collaborative Innovation: Vision Statements, Moonshot Ideas and Global Dialogue
The projects presented focused on challenge-based learning and fostering intercultural dialogue between students, using AI for empathy, had titles like the AI Mental Health Bridge or KosovoConnect. Imagining the world in 2030, the bridge was a powerful symbol referred to in almost every presentation next to prominent methods like storytelling or approaches like glocalisation. The available AI agents helped the groups produce different media like videos, pictures and even a song.

When asked about the most significant takeaway or learning point from the workshop, responses included:
- “It is possible to create ambitious projects interacting online with other colleagues from across other universities.”
- “New perspectives for online collaboration, we have to go ahead with it, we can win a lot from it, let’s think new ways!”
- “The most significant takeaway for me was realising how powerful AI agents can be when used intentionally and collaboratively. Understanding how to structure prompts and leverage tools like Contrary Connie, Explainer Ellie, and Collaboration Cosmo helped me see how AI can enhance critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. This shifted not only how I use AI, but how I design learning.”
When asked about influential factors to approaching peace education, responses included:
- “The most influential element for me was understanding how structured AI facilitation can deepen empathy. Using the agents showed me how students can explore multiple viewpoints, question biases, and build more thoughtful, compassionate responses, skills that are essential in peace education.”
“The importance of the intertwinement of the human, AI and global lens in peace education.”
