Internships at EUPeace associated or affiliated schools are a central measure of WP3 (see MS15). They offer a low-threshold opportunity to integrate international experience into teacher education programmes and provide an excellent way to gain insights into didactic-pedagogical practice across different educational systems.
Such school internships require intensive preparation, supervision, and reflection. In addition to language acquisition and intercultural preparation, already prioritised within EUPeace (see T3.5), students need specific training in school- and teaching-related aspects, e.g. their role as mediators of knowledge, conceptions of subject-specific teaching and learning as complex communicative processes, differentiation of classroom language (academic, school-based, everyday), planning and execution of lessons in a foreign language.
It is also imperative to address practical teaching aspects related to the EUPeace core topics peace, justice, and inclusion to complement university-specific content.
PrIntEd will develop a digital module including both self-study elements and instructor-led components provided by the partner universities corresponding to a workload of up to 6 ECTS. The modular design ensures seamless integration into teacher education programmes across the Alliance. As the module will be permanently available online via the Alliance’s learning management systems and local platforms of the universities, sustainability of the materials is ensured.
