Erasmus+ Long-Term Mobilities
What?
As an Erasmus+ funded student, you can participate in a long-term mobility lasting from 2 to 12 months. The maximum funding period per study cycle is twelve months. These twelve months can be used for a combination of different types of mobilities. Specific funding details are always determined and managed on an institutional level and will vary from EUPeace partner to EUPeace partner.
A long-term mobility can also take the form of a hybrid mobility if combined with a virtual activity. At all times, mobilties must be included in and related to your curricula, no matter your field of study. Combining your mobility with a period of internship is another option you might want to consider for your international experience.
Where?
The EUPeace consortium consists of nine partners in seven countries. Long-term mobilities can be funded through the Erasmus+ programme for partners in all programme countries that have active inter-institutional agreements in place. Mobilities from and to partner countries non-associated to the Erasmus+ programme—the University of Mostar and the University of Sarajevo in the case of EUPeace—are particular to each university.
Funding
Depending on the specifics of your mobility, once accepted into the programme, you may have access to funding in the form of a monthly stipend and additional funding through fewer opportunities categories as well as travel cost. While Erasmus+ offers a wide spectrum of mobility funding to support mobility throughout the world, the specific national and institutional regulations vary significantly. It is always best to familiarise yourself with your university’s unique procedures and contact your local Erasmus+ coordinator.
- Specific founding amounts are contingent on the respective country’s National Agency as well as regulations specific to the higher education institution.
- Depending on the sending and receiving countries, the European Commission divides countries into several groups based on average cost-of-living. Mobility activities between countries are funded within the groups’ parameters.

Funding within the groups
For mobility activities between two countries from the same group:
between 292€ and 606€/month
For mobility activities from a lower to a higher living cost:
between 348€ and 674€/month
For mobilities from a higher to a lower living cost:
between 225€ and 550€/month
Additional Funding
On top of the monthly stipend, additional funding is available to students with fewer opportunities. Fewer opportunities categories are defined differently in every country and institution, but can, for example, be granted due to a physical or psychological disability, a chronic health condition, being a first-generation academic or living remotely. For an exhaustive list of fewer opportunities funding, contact your local Erasmus+ coordinator. Green travel top-ups for low-carbon transportation, such as travel by train, carpool or bus are also available to you as part of the Erasmus+ funding scheme.
If you partake in a long-term student mobility within EUPeace, you might be eligible to receive travel support for your mobility. The amount of additional funding is divided according to distance categories and the amount accorded to each category varies from university to university. See below the distances in kilometers between the partners and determine your category accordingly:

Every person’s financial background is unique. For students of all financial backgrounds to have the opportunity of participating in a mobility abroad, you may apply for fewer opportunities funding depending on your specific personal situation and your respective institutional as well as national Erasmus+ regulations. Fewer opportunities categories vary greatly from EUPeace member to EUPeace member. Please contact your local Erasmus+ coordinator for further information..
In some cases the costs of a mobility may far surpass the monthly support of the regular Erasmus+ grants. If this is the case for your future mobility and you would like more information on real cost support of your mobility, please contact your local Erasmus+ coordinator.
Other Funding Opportunities
Funding opportunities outside Erasmus+ exist as well, but also vary signigicantly depending on the respective country and institution. Find more information about long-term mobility opportunities at your home and host university.
