Europe is facing a formidable set of challenges – and our governments and societies need to find the answers that meet them. The historian Adam Tooze describes our age as an age of “polycrisis”: everything – politics, geopolitics, war, pandemics, climate change – seems to be coming at us all at once; and if we feel overwhelmed, we’re certainly not alone. Disorientation seems to have become a collective status quo, a new norm. But how do we re-orientate ourselves? And how can we build and sustain peaceful, equitable and inclusive societies at a time like this?
These kinds of questions are at the heart of the European Track – EUPeace’s brand-new cross- and interdisciplinary certificate for students enrolled at EUPeace universities – which has launched in its pilot phase in the academic year 2025/2026. The Track offers our students the possibility of taking courses from across the disciplinary spectrum, while engaging in virtual and physical mobility between our universities. Tomorrow’s European change-makers are able to gain three certificates – of between 6 and 18 ECTS points – for each of the European Track’s three levels.
The Track will operate slightly differently at our different universities, while embodying EUPeace’s unity in diversity. You can find (and share) our general information page for students here; and our general information page for lecturers interested in offering courses for the Track can be found here.
If you’ve any questions or want to find out how you or your colleagues can contribute to the Track, you’re very welcome to contact Dr. Robert Craig, Coordinator of Work Package 2, at: eupeace.wp2@uni-giessen.de.
