EUPeace has opened applications for its Doctoral Mobility Grant 2027, offering doctoral candidates enrolled or employed at any of the nine EUPeace partner universities funding to complete an academic stay at another Alliance institution. Applications are open until 15 October 2026. The grant is organised through the EUPeace Research Hubs and is open to all research fields, from the humanities and social sciences to the natural and life sciences and engineering.
Connecting to the Research Hubs
The Doctoral Mobility Grant is closely tied to the EUPeace Research Hubs, which bring together researchers from across the Alliance’s nine partner universities working on shared academic priorities. Five Research Hubs currently exist: Security and Conflict Transformation; Climate Science and Just Transition; Migration and Human Rights; Inclusive Health and Well-Being; and Artificial Intelligence and Social Transformation. Applications are reviewed and endorsed directly within these Hubs, and successful applicants automatically become part of the doctoral network associated with them.
How to Apply
To apply, doctoral candidates first need to find a hosting researcher or institution within one of the Research Hubs and agree on the subject, purpose, and timeline of the mobility together. Both applicant and host then sign a Letter of Invitation, which is submitted alongside a CV, application form, and proof of enrolment as a doctoral candidate by 15 October 2026. All documents must be submitted in English, with the exception of the enrolment proof. Applicants are advised to plan ahead, as some institutions require three to six months of preparation, for example where a visa or access to specific facilities is needed.
Applications are assessed against a set of criteria including the mobility’s relevance to long-term cooperation between partner institutions, its contribution to the Research Hub’s work, and its potential to advance pressing societal topics within the Alliance.
