At EUPeace, it is understood as a process of mutual learning and shared action, where universities and community partners work together to address public challenges and contribute to more peaceful, just, and inclusive communities.
Rather than viewing communities as recipients of university expertise, community engagement is built on reciprocity: students, academics, civil society organisations, public institutions, and citizens all contribute valuable perspectives and knowledge. Through these partnerships, teaching, research, and innovation become more relevant, while communities actively shape the learning and research process.
