The EUPeace Alliance invites student associations and clubs from our nine partner universities to propose and organise shared, impactful Student Challenges — projects created by students, for students. This year’s call focuses on building a genuine culture of belonging and strengthening student participation and governance across our Alliance.
Whether you’re part of a student club or an association, this is your chance to turn an idea into real change on campus.
This Year’s Thematic Focuses
To be eligible for funding, your project must align with one of the following two themes:
1. Inclusive Universities: Building a Culture of Belonging for All Students
How can European universities create a genuine culture of belonging in which every student, regardless of their background or personal circumstances — including social, cultural, linguistic or educational background and disability — feels welcomed, supported and empowered to succeed.
2. Democracy on Campus: Strengthening Student Participation and Shared Governance in European Universities
How can universities strengthen meaningful student participation and ensure that students are recognised as genuine partners in shaping higher education?

What Are the Student Challenges?
A Student Challenge typically unfolds in five steps:
- Identify an issue, situation or condition on campus that is detrimental to the principles of peace, justice, or inclusive societies
- Engage students on campus in devising possible solutions
- Discuss, as broadly as possible, among the student community to arrive at operational guidelines or specific actions
- Disseminate the full range of solutions
- Report on participation and results
The format is open: surveys, reports, mobilities, conferences, tool drafting, policy papers, local events, film production, podcasts, and more are all welcome. Proposed challenges should include an online component to enhance accessibility for participants across the Alliance.
How to Apply
- Contact your Student Challenges local coordinator at your own university before submitting your application (see contact list below)
- Fill out the application form and the budget form
- Submit your complete application to eupeace@sum.ba before 13 November 2026
All documents must be sent together. Incomplete applications, or those using a template other than the one published on the EUPeace website, will not be considered.
Important Dates
- 1 October 2026: Opening of the Call
- 13 November 2026: Deadline for Submissions
- 15 December 2026: Notification of Results
- January 2027: Earliest possible project start
- 31 August 2027: Last possible event date
- September 2027: Deadline for final report submission
Which Projects Are Eligible?
Projects must involve a minimum of two student associations from two different EUPeace universities, contribute to improving the inclusivity of campus and student life, emphasise student involvement, and align with one of this year’s two thematic focuses.
The following are not eligible for funding:
- Projects relating to the general operation or renovation of association premises
- Projects aimed at remunerating students
- Commercial or for-profit projects
- Projects already in progress or completed at the time of submission
- Alliance-wide events (a separate funding call exists for these)
- Research projects for doctoral candidates (a separate action exists for these)
Projects that promote religious or political views
Selection Process
Applications are first checked for completeness and compliance by the EUPeace administrative coordinator for the Student Challenges call (University of Mostar for 2026–2027). Compliant applications are then forwarded to a joint commission of student and staff representatives from across the Alliance, where the number of student members always equals or exceeds the number of staff members.
Project leaders will be invited to give a short presentation (around 4 minutes) of their project to the commission, followed by a brief interview. Applications are assessed against five criteria: presentation and understanding of the project, consistency with EUPeace’s student life goals, methodology, financial planning, and quality of the interview. Selected projects are announced on the EUPeace website.
Contributing to the Campus Festival 2027
All funded Student Challenges are invited to contribute to the second EUPeace Campus Festival, taking place in spring 2027 at the University of Calabria. We encourage applicants to consider, as part of their project planning, how their initiative could be presented at the Festival — this may have a positive influence on the evaluation of your proposal.
After Your Project Is Funded
Funded project leaders must submit a short summary and contact details for initial publication on the website within two weeks of selection, and a full activity and financial report no later than 15 July 2027.
