The University of Calabria hosted the EUPeace Spring Meetings 2026, welcoming delegations and representatives from all partner universities of the European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies (EUPeace).
University of Calabria’s special position in the EUPeace Alliance
As the only Italian member of the Alliance, the University of Calabria plays a strategic role in strengthening academic cooperation across Europe. The University’s participation in EUPeace highlights its position within the European higher education landscape. The Alliance fosters collaboration in research, teaching, and knowledge exchange, contributing to the development of more inclusive and peaceful societies. Through this initiative, the University further consolidates its international dimension and serves as a bridge between Southern Italy and Europe.
A highlight of the Spring Meetings
A key moment of the meetings was the keynote lecture by Professor Fulvio Attinà, Emeritus Professor at the University of Catania, titled “The change of order and the chances of peace”. The lecture offered a timely reflection on global change and prospects for peace, in line with the core mission of EUPeace. The event was open to the public and and attracted strong participation from students, highlighting the University’s commitment to scientific and cultural dissemination.
Beyond academia
The presence of international delegations has transformed the Arcavacata campus into a dynamic international hub. Beyond academic activities, the programme also included opportunities to engage with the local area. Participants attended an evening event at the Swabian Castle of Cosenza, offering an immersive cultural experience that connected the academic mission with the heritage and identity of the region.
