EUPeace Buddy System BIP Week in Pilsen

The EUPeace Buddy System invites students and staff to a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at the University of West Bohemia (UWB) in Pilsen. The program aims to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and interconnected European university community while strengthening the practical and intercultural competencies necessary to effectively support international mobility. The program consists of mandatory virtual components and a five-day on-site week in the Czech Republic.

Important Dates and Program Structure

Virtual Sessions (Online)

  • May 4, 2026: An interactive lecture from 14:00 to 15:30 CET exploring how concepts of peace, justice, and inclusivity manifest in educational experiences.

  • May 22, 2026: A reflective assessment session from 14:00 to 15:30 CET to critically apply Peace Culture concepts to real-life situations.

  • Both online sessions are mandatory. Participants will also likely receive an assignment to complete during May.

     

On-site Week in Pilsen (June 1 – June 5, 2026) The on-site activities will primarily take place at the main UWB Campus and include:

  • A Buddy System presentation and a workshop hosted by the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Board.

  • Interactive sessions focusing on interpersonal communication and student challenges within the Buddy System.

  • Networking and social activities, including joint meals, a campus tour, and a picnic in the Bory Park.

  • Excursion: On Thursday, June 4, participants will take a train excursion to the Šumava National Park. Attendees should be prepared to walk at least 10 km.

 

Accommodation

Participants can choose to arrange their own housing or indicate one of the following options in their registration form:

  • University Dormitories: Double rooms with shared bathrooms and kitchens on each floor. Bed linen is provided, and the rate is approximately 25 EUR per night.

  • Hotel Trend: Located near the city center, offering discounted rates for participants: approximately 60 EUR (1,400 CZK) for a single room or 80 EUR (1,900 CZK) for a double room, both including breakfast.

 

Travel and Local Transport

  • Getting to Pilsen: Traveling from Prague to Pilsen is convenient via FlixBus (a journey of about one and a half hours) or by train.

  • Public Transport: Pilsen features an efficient public transit system. It is strongly recommended to purchase 24-hour tickets daily (approximately 3.5 EUR), which allow unlimited travel on all city public transportation.
