European Diversity Month – Refugees and asylum seekers in higher education

European Diversity Month explores Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Higher Education

In celebration of European Diversity Month, EUPeace hosts a series of lectures and webinars in the month of May that focus on various topics of diversity issues.

The last session of our series will take place on 28 May 2026 to discuss the topic of “Refugees and asylum seekers in higher education“.

This seminar explores the inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers in higher education through the lens of UNICORE (University Corridors for Refugees), an Italian initiative supported by UNHCR and promoted by over 40 universities across the country. Drawing on national experiences, it examines how university corridors provide refugee students with access to degree programmes, scholarships, and legal pathways to study.

The impulse-lecture will be presented by Donatella Loprieno. She is the Rector’s delegate for refugee students at the University of Calabria and a UNHCR Representative.

Registration required

The session takes place online, organised by the University of Calabria. We welcome students and staff interested in diversity issues. Registration is required. Participants can register via this email address womenstudies@unical.it. The webinar link will be provided after registration.
